We stayed in a top floor " cottage". The view of the ocean was awesome...that being said...this hotel needs some serious upgrading. I went to lower the blinds in the bathroom and they fell off the wall. When we arrived they didn't have the air on, it was a west facing room and was hot and unwelcoming. The tv reception was sketchy, very fuzzy reception. The deck was made of whatcseemed to be balsa woos, tread lightly or lower level guests will have a drop in, literally! My suggestion, tear it down and start from scratch. I would rather have stayed in a tent across the street at Doughney State Beach campground!
See above...this was the worse hotel I've ever been in. $119 was a ripoff!!!!!!!!

The close proximity to beach access.
Filthy room, run-down buildings, broken appliances in the room, left-over food in the microwave, cigarette ash in the medicine cabinet. Extremely disappointed with this hotel. I would never go back.

Good location.
Rooms are very outdated. Stains on the headboard. But...we needed a place to stay last minute, during Donheny Days music festival. It was the only available room that didn't cost 400 bucks. It had hot water and the scratchy sheets were clean. And hey we were only sleeping in there anyway.

The location was good
The room was nasty, there was holes in the wall in the bathroom. The blinds in the bathroom was broken. Everything was dirty and the ceiling fan was missing a blade.

Seems like they tried to update the very small bathroom with some modern but inexpensive fixtures. Better than the ones that were there before, probably. Lots of hot water so that was nice. Teeny flat screen nailed to the bedroom wall, didn't turn it on to see if it worked.
Where to start... Disgruntled desk person in the teeny, shabby, cluttered, poorly marked registration area was a major tip-off. Didn't actually say a word through the entire check in process until grunting the room number at us as he handed over the key. Property generally shabby and in need of much repair. Building materials throughout parking lot. Bed old, soft and very uncomfortable with holes in the headboard fabric - back still hurts. Mis-matched uncomfortable pillows. Rooms small and dark. Holes in the wall. Patio furniture rusting away. I took photos, but sadly no way to upload. Coffee maker didn't work. Towels thin, threadbare and tiny. Road and train noise highly annoying all night long. You could enjoy the rustic charm, perhaps, if it was cheap - like half what they are charging - but as it is I recommend sleeping in your car.

The location is about the only thing that I liked, right across the street from the beach.
Faucets were dripping, TV did not work, A/C cord went over the headboard of one of the beds to plug into wall, very thread-bare towels, paint peeling...just a all-over grim experience. We just used the room to sleep...

Obviously, they are in process of renovating a very old motel. The room was very clean, floors and bathroom updated. It's right across the street from the beach.
The bed was very old and uncomfortable. The headboard and bedspread were very old and worn. Tables and drawers were secondhand. The coffeemaker did not work.
